a march is planned from santa rosa city hall at 4 this afternoon. the group will march to the sonoma county sheriff's office to protest deputy eric gelhaus' return to work. the rally at the sheriff's office is at 5:30. deputy gelhaus is back on desk duty today after the october shooting. gelhaus shot lopez seven times when he mistook an airsoft pellet rifle for an a-k-47 rifle.

san francisco police are on the lookout this morning for a man who allegedly pepper- sprayed two homeless people before stealing their 6 week old puppy. the incident happened friday morning near buena vista police say the owners were there have been confrontations in ukraine's capital overnight between riot police and anti- government protesters. there are no official figures on injuries. reports say an opposition leader as saying several protesters were injured when police tore down the small tent encampments blocking access to government buildings in kiev. the latest incident appeared to be less violent than the club-swinging police dispersals of demonstrators a week and a half ago.
